Hey D’arc!!
I am currently in Hobart, Tasmania for work… basically the most southern part of Australia and maybe why it reminds me so much of Canada! I was telling some work colleagues last night about the similarities (possibly over a few beverages), it’s the smell.. I don’t know what it is – but it reminds me of home. I wish I could bottle that smell and keep it forever.. maybe it’s all the pine trees, there’s also maple trees everywhere – not a palm tree in sight hahaha. A stunning part of Australia. The bays are so calm they remind me of the lake and I started telling stories (possibly around 4 drinks deep now), about how I grew up with such a close knit group of about 30 cousins, but being 1 of 4 girls out of the lot… I was greatly outnumbered and was always picked on! I remember one in particular memory in the original Mercer house, out in the sunroom /playroom area- Alex and I yet again clawing at each other faces and pulling each other’s hair fighting hahahaha! But my big cousin D’arcy always stepped in like a bloody superhero, kicked some asses, and saved me hahaha. “Come on Karra, let’s go over here and play with this”. Probably some dumb Barbie doll knowing me haha. The Godfather of the cousins no one messes with! Anyway, that memory just popped up and it made me smile and wanted to share it.
Love you heaps and hoping to get over there later this year with my tribe… a few more girls to level the playing field (let’s be honest though, Dana’s done most of that legwork!). Big hugs and love
xxxxxx
